Liz Picarazzi, CEO and Founder of Citibin, a Brooklyn-based company specializing in durable, stylish trash enclosures and package lockers, first contacted Genimex in July 2017 to shift from domestic manufacturing to China. Partnering with Genimex allowed Citibin to leverage its manufacturing expertise and global network, ensuring its high-quality enclosures met stringent standards in form and function. In early 2024, Liz once again sought Genimex’s guidance to diversify Citibin’s manufacturing footprint beyond China, aiming to strengthen the supply chain and mitigate tariff risks.

In January 2024, Citibin identified the need for a more diversified manufacturing strategy to mitigate the rising operational risks associated with China-based production alone. This approach, known as the “China + One” strategy, became urgent when, in April 2024, the U.S. administration announced potential tariff increases on specific HS codes, raising tariffs on Citibin’s products from 11% to 28%. This significant increase threatened Citibin’s margins and long-term profitability.
To support Citibin’s “China + One” strategy, Genimex proposed Vietnam as an ideal secondary manufacturing hub. This recommendation was based on Vietnam’s growing infrastructure, cost-effectiveness, and proximity to other Southeast Asian resources. Liz met with the Genimex team in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, which helped build confidence in the process and demonstrated the commitment of Genimex’s quality assurance (QA) team on the ground.

"Having Genimex guide us through the ‘China + One’ strategy has been a game-changer for us. They didn’t just help us move production; they ensured a seamless transition from quality standards to knowledge transfer. I feel reassured knowing we have a reliable partner on the ground as we expand our manufacturing base."
